Pet getting checked up

In the last few years animal dermatology has come a long way. We now have more options than ever to help your pet. Skin disease is not fun and is hard to watch your pet go through, whether its mange, ear infections, or chronic allergies. We have two new options available for us to help relieve your pet, Apoquel and Cytopoint.

Apoquel is a new oral medication that is given daily. It has shown to reduce itching in pets within 4 hours after a dose is given. This medication can be used for pets that have a variety of skin issues including: flea allergies, food allergies, contact allergies, and atopic dermatitis. This medication doesn’t have the same concerns as using long term steroids and is relatively safe.

Cytopoint is an injectable medication that works within 24 hours and can provide relief for 4 – 8 weeks depending on the patient. It targets the itch at the source to relieve the signs of atopic dermatitis in dogs. It helps reduce the scratching, biting, and licking so the damaged skin can heal.
